Coca-Cola Consolidated Inc. (CCCI), the largest independent Coca-Cola bottler in North America, delivers refreshment to over 17.5 million consumers daily from more than sixty distribution centers along the eastern seaboard. Behind every pallet moved and cooler stocked is a workforce navigating both the physical demands of manual material handling (lifting, pushing, pulling) and the mental agility required to adapt to dynamic environments, from crowded parking lots to tight retail spaces.
Understanding that employee well-being is foundational to operational excellence, CCCI sought an ergonomics partner whose expertise extended beyond risk assessments and posture recommendations. They needed a collaborator capable of cultivating leaders who could champion safety with both technical precision and empathetic communication.
Enter Ergo-ology, a consultancy known for its evidence-based approach to embedding sustainable ergonomic practices in industrial settings. Offering a comprehensive suite of solutions, from detailed ergonomic audits to immersive training bootcamps, Ergo-ology blends engineering and biomechanics with human-centered leadership development.
Together, CCCI and Ergo-ology forged a shared mission: to empower every distribution center team member to thrive physically and mentally by integrating ergonomic science with inspired leadership. This vision reframed safety not as a standalone initiative, but as a strategic imperative, where reducing injury risk and developing resilient, engaged leaders go hand in hand.

At the core of this collaboration are two flagship programs:
Delivered in three progressive levels over an annual cycle, ELP equips each facility with the infrastructure to build a lasting ergonomics culture. Led by a dedicated ergonomic champion and a cross-functional committee, participants engage in monthly training modules, tackle real-world assignments, and receive ongoing expert support.
These hands-on workshops immerse employees in biomechanically sound techniques for lifting, pushing, and pulling, while also strengthening the mental resilience needed to stay alert amid daily challenges.
Together, ELP and the Bootcamps ensure ergonomic practices are seamlessly woven into daily operations—not siloed as one-off projects.

Real Impact: Stories from the Field
The impact of these programs has resonated deeply across the organization. Ryan Doseck, Driver Supervisor in Dayton, OH, shared a powerful moment:
“To my surprise, a driver with 19 years of experience texted me late in the evening after reflecting on the Bootcamp, just to say thank you. He told me he’d never experienced training so applicable to the real challenges he faces every day. He wished he’d had access to something like this years ago. The training literally remained front of mind, hours after the training.”
This kind of unsolicited feedback highlights the authenticity and relevance of the training—bridging the gap between ergonomic theory and everyday reality.
Ergo-ology founder Brock Anderson reflects on the partnership’s evolution:
“Coca-Cola Consolidated’s deeply rooted safety culture, anchored in proactive leadership, cross-functional synergy, and a steadfast dedication to its people, fostered the perfect climate for ergonomic innovation. By embracing our programs, they not only reduced injuries but catalyzed a culture of ownership, resilience, and continuous improvement.”
David Dix, whose career began as a Driver Trainee in 2005 shares:
“Engaging in these programs has helped transform my leadership style by prioritizing proactive safety measures, deepened my commitment to ensuring coworker well-being, and notably enriched my professional growth through a stronger focus on workplace safety and health.”
David is now Sr. Mgr. Risk Control, who has advanced 5 levels during his time at CCCI.
Buoyed by these successes, CCCI is now preparing to certify an internal cadre of ergonomic trainers assuring that the expertise cultivated through Ergo-ology remains embedded and scalable across its network. Future initiatives include integrating advanced data-driven assessments and launching peer-to-peer coaching circles, each reinforcing the alliance’s mission to protect and empower every person who helps bring Coca-Cola’s products to market.
Together, CCCI and Ergo-ology are setting a new standard for ergonomic leadership in the distribution industry, proving that when science and servant leadership converge, the result is a safer, more engaged, and more resilient workforce.
